Truth Not Trends

May 31, 2021

This week we are joined by Michael Petrella, Mike Perilli, and Mike Marzanek, as they discuss in detail their attempts to recreate the legendary Colorado Experiment. The Colorado Experiment was a bodybuilding experiment featuring Casey Viator and run by Arthur Jones using Nautilus equipment at Colorado State University in May, 1973.

The first subject, Casey Viator gained as much as 63 pounds of muscle in 28 days and the second, Arthur Jones, gained 15 pounds in 22 days. It is of interest due to its claims that incredible results can be achieved with a small number of sessions (only 14 workouts) and using single sets of high intensity repetitions to momentary muscle failure focusing primarily on negative or lowering multi-joint exercises.
